Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the modern world. Approximately 14 million people in Europe currently suffer from heart failure with more than 3.6 million new cases of heart failure reported each year.

Educating people on the benefits of exercise, lowering weight, decreasing stress and improving their diets has helped, as have advanced drug therapies. However, today one in five deaths* are caused by cardiovascular disease. In their Jan/Feb 2009 issue, Cardiovascular Business Magazine projected that over the next 30 years (2007 – 2037) deaths from heart disease will increase by fivefold.
